What to Do When Life Feels Like a Burden Too Heavy to Carry

Woman in headwrap finds hope

Do you ever feel like you’re carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders? Whether it’s struggles at work, relationship issues, or family disagreements, we all experience seasons where life feels like a burden that’s too heavy to bear.

Stavita can relate. Following local traditions, she married at 16 years old and became a mother less than a year later. Sadly, she had no energy to enjoy her new roles as a wife and mother. Due to chronic anemia and low blood pressure, Stavita struggled to eat, complete basic hygiene tasks, and care for her child. Thankfully, her family supported her during her health crisis, but she longed to be healthy and self-sufficient.

For Stavita, every day felt like she was fighting an uphill battle that she’d never win.

Then, thanks to the support of friends like you, Stavita was able to attend a health education training offered by an Adult Literacy Class in her village. Through the training, Stavita learned how to prevent illness in her home, the importance of proper nutrition for her growing child, and simple remedies that could improve overall health.  She was also inspired to visit a doctor to address her health issues.

Between following the doctor’s advice and putting her new knowledge into action, most Stavita’s health problems were resolved within two months! With newfound energy, Stavita was motivated to keep improving her life. She began attending the Literacy Class, where she gradually learned how to read and write. After becoming good friends with the class’s instructor, she began attending church with her!

God used an Adult Literacy Class to show Stavita that He cares about her and that she doesn’t have to bear her burdens alone.

The same is true for you. Jesus Himself said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” Matthew 11:28-30. Take your worries and cares to Jesus. Let Him hold them for you while you find rest in Him.
