From Brokenness to Abundance: How Faith and Literacy Changed a Life

Prisha's journey from brokenness to abundance shows how faith and literacy can change a life

Why We Hide When Life Gets Hard

From the beginning of time, our tendency has been to hide when things get hard. It happened when Adam and Eve sinned and hid from God in the garden. It happened when Cain killed his brother yet feigned ignorance with God. It happened in Acts 5 when a wealthy couple hid part of their wealth instead of being generous. And it happens with us throughout the course of our lives.

What if the very thing you try to hide is what God wants to use to bring abundance—not just for you, but for others?

That’s what He’s doing all across India right now with adults who are learning to read through Adult Literacy Classes!

How God Used Literacy to Change Prisha’s Life

A mom named Prisha was unable to care for her family because she was uneducated. This deficiency impacted every area of their lives. She couldn’t help her children with their schoolwork. She couldn’t read road signs, which made it difficult to travel for work and appointments. Her inability to do basic math meant she was often taken advantage of at the market. But Prisha’s life changed when she started attending an Adult Literacy Class in her village. Instead of hiding her weakness, she asked for help. Instead of pretending, she was honest about her struggles.

From Brokenness to Abundance Through Christ

Now Prisha can read, write, and do basic math. But that’s not all—Prisha also met Jesus. Because of the Scripture passages she read during the Literacy Class, she learned about God’s love for her. Overcome with gratitude, Prisha confessed her sins and received Christ as her Lord
and Savior!

What Prisha’s Story Means for You

None of this would have been possible unless she started being honest about her need. Prisha found abundance because she embraced her brokenness! It would have been easy for her to ignore her struggles, but Prisha’s story reflects the truth of 2 Corinthians 4:7, “We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.”

That’s the invitation for you today, too! God wants to use your brokenness to bring abundance—for you, for your family, and for your community.

God is still bringing abundance through brokenness today. When you support Adult Literacy Classes, you help others discover hope, dignity, and faith.
