Ranjani’s Dream Come True

Ranjani grew up poor, and although she dreamed of becoming a nurse, she never had the opportunity to go to school. Instead, she stayed home and did chores. Then, she got married to a daily wage laborer and had three children. It seemed she would never have the chance to pursue her personal goals.

Her primary role became caring for her children – and her lack of education even interfered with her capabilities as a mother. When her children became sick, she was unable to give them medicine correctly because she couldn’t read the directions. When she shopped for groceries, she wondered if she was being cheated out of money because she had to take whatever change the shopkeeper gave her, unable to count it.

Ranjani was disappointed that she was unable to read, write, and do math, but everything changed when she met Suman, a local believer, who invited her to the Adult Literacy Class she taught. Ranjani joined and began to learn things she once dreamed of knowing. Now, she feels proud because she is able to read the labels on medicine bottles that she once was unable to recognize! This, along with many other lessons, have become significant as Ranjani cares for her family.

She also learned about Jesus in the class and is now growing spiritually – even attending a prayer group each week with her children. Ranjani’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10, which says, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

Will you pray that Ranjani discovers the full truth of Isaiah 41:10 and receives Jesus as her Lord and Savior?
