Prerit’s Journey to Receiving Jesus
Prerit is studying in the sixth grade at a government school. His father is a painter and his mother takes care of their home. Unfortunately, Prerit’s father does not earn a lot of money and his work is sporadic. When he works, the family eats; when he doesn’t, they go hungry.
Prerit’s reputation for being a poor student was demonstrated by his lackluster performance. It seemed he never completed his assignments and his parents received ongoing complaints from his teacher. Prerit was not motivated to study and was careless in everything he did.
Prerit and his family felt like they had a “dark cloud” over their house as they were always sick. His mother, especially, had one problem after another and suffered regularly from seizures. His father took her to many doctors, but no one was successful in helping her. This went on for many years and drained a substantial amount of their limited income. Eventually, the family lost all hope that she would ever be well.
One day, Prerit’s uncle, who is also a pastor, met the family and told them about Jesus, but they refused to listen. Prerit’s uncle was persistent in sharing the Good News and eventually, the family agreed to attend a church service with him. As Prerit’s parents heard the Gospel message, God touched their hearts and they received Jesus as their personal Savior. It was at this time that God also healed Prerit’s mother!
Even after witnessing his mother’s healing, Prerit still wasn’t sure about Jesus, as his relatives continually pressured the family to return to their old religious beliefs. Things began to change, however, when Prerit’s father brought him to a Year-Long Children’s Bible Club. There, Prerit was inspired by the Bible stories he heard and he enjoyed the many activities the club offered.
Prerit learned Christ-centered action songs, participated in skits, recited memory verses, and began completing his schoolwork. He became eager to hear more stories from the Bible. Soon, the Word of God touched Prerit to the point where he, too, received Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
Today Prerit and his entire family worship the Lord. He is enjoying life like never before and has greatly improved in his studies. There are no longer complaints from Prerit’s teacher; instead, she now appreciates him. Prerit also leads worship in his church and the family is filled with hope and joy!
