Ishmika Thrives After Help with Schoolwork
Ishmika is a bright and bubbly young girl, currently studying in the 3rd grade. She is the only daughter of hardworking parents who love her curiosity and enthusiasm for life. Both parents are daily laborers, with her mother having the added burden of caring for their home. They do the best they can given their lack of stable employment.
The family’s ongoing financial challenges have made it difficult for Ishmika to get a good education. She struggled in school and had a hard time remembering the alphabet and grasping basic arithmetic. Even writing her name was difficult for her. Ishmika’s poor academic performance had taken a toll on her confidence and self-esteem.
Manpaul, the leader of a Year-Long Children’s Bible Club, noticed that many families in his village really struggled to make ends meet, and that their children did not have good educational opportunities. Most lacked any support from their parents, who were often illiterate and had to work very long hours. Manpaul visited the parents and introduced them to the Children’s Bible Club, telling them about the many activities and how their children would receive the assistance they needed with their school work.
When Ishmika’s mother learned about the Bible Club, she quickly enrolled Ishmika! Ishmika’s parents were amazed by the change they saw in their daughter in just a few weeks. Her grades improved significantly and she gained confidence in her studies. Ishmika’s mother was so excited by her progress that she encouraged other mothers to send their children to the Bible Club, too.
The Bible Club provided a safe, nurturing environment where the children were tutored in math, science, and English. The kids loved to learn and grow together through activities like debates, quizzes, and sports. They also learned action songs about Jesus, recited memory verses, and how to be good citizens from stories in the Bible.
Ishmika’s parents are so grateful for everything the Bible Club has done for their daughter. Manpaul’s assistance and his ability to care for the children, have made a significant impact on their lives. Please pray that Ishmika and her parents will come to know Jesus and receive Him as their Lord and Savior.
