Desperate for Miracles
Have you ever been so desperate for a miracle that you’re willing to do anything for it? Sumiya, a woman in Maharashtra, India, got to this point when her daughter, Dira needed healing.
When Dira became sick, the entire family became concerned. Sumiya and her husband, Bhorish, sought care for her from nearby doctors. Dira was diagnosed with appendicitis, so Sumiya and Bhorish did everything they could to get the money for Dira’s surgery. Eventually, they sold some of their property and, combined with contributions from relatives, Dira was able to receive the surgery.
But as Dira recovered, her vision began to diminish. Day by day, her eyesight became blurry, and she had trouble distinguishing objects. Unfortunately, the family finances didn’t allow her to see a doctor to receive a diagnosis or medication.
But when Church Planter Deenal heard of Dira’s condition, she became the difference maker they needed. She visited the family to pray for Dira’s healing, share the Gospel, and invite her to church. Both Dira and Sumiya were comforted by Deenal’s prayers and attended church together the next week, where everyone there joined in praying for Dira.
After just a few weeks, the Holy Spirit moved in a miraculous way and Dira’s eyesight returned to normal! It was the most unexpected experience in Dira and Sumiya’s lives.
Best of all, the miracle led Sumiya to receive salvation. Although Dira is still learning about Jesus, she has yet to receive Him as her Savior. We’re excited for God to continue working in this family!

- Pray that Sumiya’s salvation will impact her family, leading Dira, Bhorish, and her son to receive Jesus as their Savior.
- Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue working through India’s Christians to bring miracles to those most desperate for the hope found in Jesus alone.
- Pray that God would reveal how you can rely on Him as you wait for the miracle you’re in need of.
