Dear Friends,
Imagine not being able to read this basic sentence or sign your own name. This is the story of many men and women in India, and their illiteracy prompts far greater issues than an inability to read or write.
It means getting lost in their own town because they can’t read the street signs, marrying off a young daughter because it’s one less mouth to feed, and being cheated out of fair wages and money in the marketplace because they can’t count.
Thankfully, friends like you send hope through Adult Literacy Classes. For those who are desperate for a new way of life, literacy provides new opportunities. Newly educated men and women are able to seek out better-paying jobs, understand the importance of saving money, and even become entrepreneurs! Adult Literacy teachers help them understand their rights in society, the importance of educating their children, and the significance of maintaining good hygiene. But best of all, adults come to know Jesus through the Christ-centered lessons.
None of this would be possible without faithful friends like you! I truly believe that your prayers move the Holy Spirit to reach men and women in India with the Good News, all while equipping them with practical life skills.
In the enclosed prayer list, you’ll notice that the prayers mainly focus on the men and women in Adult Literacy Classes who need God to work in their lives. As you intercede for them, remember that your prayers encourage them greatly!
