Freedom Comes for Addicted Sunchit
Sunchit was born and brought up worshipping the gods of his community. He is 32 years old and works as a part-time musician. A few years ago, his father died from alcoholism leaving behind his wife Sadhana. Sadhana was a homemaker and the mother of three children, including Sunchit.
Sunchit struggled with his father’s death and turned to alcohol. He also started hanging out in a bad circle of friends. Sunchit’s behavior caused the rest of his family to suffer financially.
Sunchit turned into a compulsive alcoholic and frequently quarreled in the streets. Sadhana started cursing him to die because the family was being humiliated because of his addictions. There was no peace in their family during this time.
Then Sadhana remembered when Sunchit’s father was addicted to alcohol, he used to visit a church for his edification but was unable to overcome his addiction to alcohol. Thus, the family knew very little about Jesus. Sadhana used to worship Jesus along with her other gods.
One day, Church Planter Raahi met the family and shared the Word of God. Even Sunchit who was drunk listened to the Gospel. Raahi politely spoke to Sunchit about the hazards of drinking alcohol.
Slowly, the family started coming to the Lord. Regular prayers helped Sunchit to leave behind his old ways and give up his addictions. Sunchit now leads a prayerful life and plays music part-time for marriages and other occasions to earning a living.
Sunchit began attending a local church and was warmly welcomed. They were excited to see him because they had seen him for years struggling with his addictions.
Sunchit is now strong in his faith and says “I’m extremely happy that all my worries rolled away through God’s servant Raahi. I regained my strength and I could really find a Savior in my life.”
“I’m extremely happy that all my worries rolled away through God’s servant Raahi. I regained my strength and I could really find a Savior in my life.”
He loves to read Proverbs: 1:33 “but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” He says, Raahi told him that if anyone needs anything, they should come to Christ.
Sunchit is now testifying of his faith and has overflowing peace. Pray that God will use Sunchit mightily in His Kingdom.
