Shaili: On a Quest for Truth

A smart and articulate woman, Shaili’s search for answers and quest for peace took her down many different paths—most leading to dead ends and, worse, even more despair.

Until Shaili found the true living God, and her life was never the same again.

Shaili was raised in the state of Uttar Pradesh. She married a mason and they had four children together. Shaili’s parents taught her all kinds of religious rituals right from childhood. She followed these rituals but was left with more questions than answers.

Spiritually restless, Shaili bounced from one religion to the next, but all fell drastically short of the peace Shaili was in search of.

When her husband began to abuse alcohol frequently and lash out at the family, the confusion and frustration that once nagged at Shaili now enveloped her life. Her health declined rapidly due to stress. Shaili became very sick. She was finally taken to a doctor who discovered Shaili had a large ovarian cyst that required immediate surgery. Having no money for any such surgery, Shaili was left near death and no nearer to the God her heart cried out for.

With Shaili’s health in critical condition and her peace of mind teetering on complete despair, a Church Planter named Sabiya began conducting a prayer group in a house very close to Shaili’s own home. So close that she could hear the worshippers when they gathered to pray and sing songs. It stirred her heart like no other religious ritual had before, but Shaili was afraid of what others in her village would say if she attended a Christian gathering. Then, God spoke through Sabiya, who invited Shaili to join them and see how they worshipped.

It was that day that Shaili first heard the words: “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me” (John 14:6). And it was that day that Shaili was introduced to Jesus Christ who, for the first time ever, pointed her to the true and living God she had been so desperately seeking. Shaili confessed her sins, repented, and received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior.

Overjoyed at her transformation, the other worshippers began diligently praying over Shaili for deliverance from her sickness. And a miracle followed. When she went for a checkup, the doctor delivered stunning news: Shaili’s cyst was completely gone.

Today, Shaili remains healthy and committed to the living God who healed her, and she has been baptized in His name. All because a humble Church Planter was bold enough to introduce Shaili to the peace only He can provide.

We praise Jesus for Shaili’s salvation, baptism, and miraculous healing from a life-threatening cyst! We pray in His name for her entire family’s salvation and for all the souls seeking Him throughout India. Will you join us in this prayer?
