During the month of June, when we see new life all around, we are reminded that there is an existence that is eternal—that never runs out and is always new. We who believe in Christ have a life in us that will never perish. “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God” (1 Peter 1:23). As our bodies get older, they give in to gradual deterioration and physical death, but that death ushers us into a life without death: a life that is eternally new.
The end of this life is only the beginning of the new life. In a way, the month of June is a picture of our new life; it is the time of rich, abundant life. As we have moved into a retirement village and look around at others, we realize that all of us are waiting for…NOT the end, but the beginning—a “June” that will never stop.
Mission India trains spiritual farmers to plant the seeds of life. This “new life” is not governed by the law of death; instead, the seeds of the truths of the Bible produce eternal life. Last year, we partnered with Indian believers, and many “seeds of imperishable life” were planted, sprouted, and started to grow! By witnessing this harvest, we are constantly reminded that we have a God who makes all things new. Death for us is never the end, but rather the beginning of the NEW life without death! It is an eternal June!
The green fields of grain which we see this month will have died in a few months. They will turn brown and be harvested and gone. But there is a “June” that will never end. As we wait to be ushered in, we continue to keep our eyes fixed on our Savior and His eternal, never-ending June.
Praise and thank God! Keep praying!
