I became a grandfather for the first time earlier this year. Even though I knew for months that my grandson would be joining our family, I have to admit that I wasn’t prepared for the feelings I experienced when I held that little guy for the first time and realized in a few years he’ll be calling ME Grandpa. (Those of you with grandkids probably have lots of insight for me on how to embrace this new time of life!)
Becoming a grandpa isn’t the only change God has been preparing me for over the last year or so. Since I joined Mission India nearly 10 years ago, our organization has grown in ways that I never could have imagined. The Lord continues to astonish me with the incredible ways He is mobilizing His people in India to share the Good News. Every day I become even more convinced that reaching India is key to seeing the fulfillment of Revelation 7:9,
“There before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb.”
Because of this tremendous growth, I have been working closely for quite some time with our Board of Directors and our executive team here at Mission India to develop a strategic plan that will ensure the long-term growth of our ministry and expand the leadership capacity of the organization. This includes a plan for leadership succession both in the US and in India.
That’s why I am thrilled to introduce you to Todd VanEk, who will join our organization on September 2 as Mission India’s new President. Todd was approved by a unanimous vote of our Board of Directors and is enthusiastically endorsed by both myself and our Founder, John DeVries.
Todd has been an advocate for India and Mission India for more than 10 years, both personally and through his roles in church leadership. Todd’s personal vision and calling are in perfect alignment with Mission India’s existing mission and vision. We all feel greatly blessed to have Todd join the Mission India team as we anticipate how God will use us to reach India in the years ahead.
I may be a grandpa now, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to slow down. I will continue to lead Mission India as CEO, overseeing the areas of ministry, finance, and administration, and working toward a seamless transition to Todd’s leadership over the next several years.
Thank you for keeping our ministry in your prayers during this time of transition. If you have any questions about our new President, the transition, or Mission India’s plans for the future, we would be glad to answer them.
