Dear Praying Friends,
We were engaged in the usual discussion a few weeks ago—what were we going to write in this letter. What is special about February? Atts said immediately that it is the “love month” because of Valentine’s Day! As we thought about this some more, we concluded that the “love” expressed on Valentine’s Day is hardly the love that we know.
Think for a moment of a little one-year-old child or grandchild holding on tight to your neck, with his or her face pressing on yours. That little child did nothing to earn your love, but just gets your love and care because of his or her need for that love.
In a way, this is a picture of God’s love for us. We are far more precious to Him than even our little ones are to us. He sings over us as we sing over our little children (Zephaniah 3:17). Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are God’s workmanship, designed by God who created us long before we were born. Another way to translate the Greek is to say that we are God’s masterpieces! Ever think of yourself as God’s masterpiece?
Not only now, in time, are we God’s masterpieces but the Bible likens our body to the seed out of which comes a massive tree (1 Corinthians 15:35-58). If this masterpiece is only like a seed, what will our eternal bodies be like?
As you think about yourself this month, remember that you (not just your body) are God’s masterpiece. He drew your blueprint before He created the world. And as you love and protect a little one snuggling with little arms tight around your neck, so you are to the Father, Creator of the universe!
And this is the message we bring in India, especially to the outcast. You are loved with an infinite, timeless eternal love. You are God’s masterpiece and He will provide for you and protect you. What a message! Have a great Valentine’s Day enjoying Jesus’ love for you.
Until India is transformed,
John and Atts DeVries
