It is April and the flowers will soon be blossoming. I’m reminded of the hymn: This is my Father’s world, and to my listening ears all nature sings, and round me rings the music of the spheres … I rest me in the thought of rocks and trees, of skies and seas—His hand the wonders wrought.
God created nature to show us His love of beauty. He wanted to lavish His gifts on us and springtime is the time we are reminded of God’s great generosity. That is why this season is so special (especially in Michigan, after all the snow!). All creation awakens and displays God’s beauty in many ways.
In the book, The Great Divorce, C.S. Lewis says that one of the queens of Heaven was no more than a “scullery maid” on earth, but because she loved so many and gave so much love, she became one of Heaven’s queens.
Is spring a picture of God’s great and beautiful love for you? We are born again to produce the beauty of God’s love in every way. This includes prayer for a nation and people that most of have never seen. Jesus answers: Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him (John 7:38, BSB). Through our prayers and gifts, fountains of living water are springing up all over India! This is our Father’s world! O let us ne’er forget that though the wrong seems oft so strong, God is the Ruler yet!
Keep praying and giving for India!
