Young mother finds hope, comfort in the promises of God

Chuni thought her gods had abandoned her—until she met the One True God who promises never to forsake her.

And she says her life will never be the same again...

Chuni is 30 years old and has two children. Chuni and her husband worshipped many idols and goddesses.

Sacrifices and prayers were part of their worship routine. And for a while it seemed their gods must be pleased with them—a government program provided a house for their family.

But then heavy rains led to flooding—their new home was washed out, along with their crops and their belongings.

They had nothing.

During this time, a Mission India Church Planter named Joshua began leading a small Bible study in Chuni’s village.

As she sat in the back of the group, listening intently, Chuni felt hope for the first time. In time, Chuni accepted Jesus as her Savior.

Her husband became angry and warned her to return to their gods. But Chuni courageously refused.

In the months since Chuni became a believer, she has prayed daily for her husband to open his heart to Jesus.

Though he hasn’t become a Christian yet, Chuni’s husband hasn't followed through on his threat to stop her from worshipping Jesus. And he listens quietly when she is sharing her faith with him.

Chuni says she is trusting God to change her husband’s heart—just as He has changed her own.
