Former witch shares the Good News of Jesus with her family

You’ve never met anyone quite like Kulwant!

Everyone in her village was afraid of Kulwant. She was known as a witch and used her evil powers against those who displeased her.

Then her husband lost his job at a factory. So she came up with an innovative way to boost their family’s income.

She began threatening her neighbors, telling them she would curse their households if they didn’t give her money or food.

Kulwant had everyone around her fooled—but inside she was miserable.

She knew her way of life was bringing only despair and hopelessness. Kulwant’s daily prayers to her gods went unanswered.

Then our Church Planter, Sokha, came to Kulwant’s village, in northern India. Kulwant had never heard of Jesus before, and she was curious to learn more.

As she heard Sokha preach the Gospel, and pray to Jesus, she felt a great peace fill her heart. A few days later, Kulwant threw away all the idols in her home and, together with her husband, accepted Jesus.

It didn’t take long before her family members began threatening her for worshipping a “foreign” God.

But Kulwant wasn’t afraid. She boldly shared her testimony with them.

Four of her family members eventually became followers of Jesus…including a brother who had earlier threatened to kill Kulwant for her new faith.

Kulwant is joyful today, knowing she is no longer alone. And she is living out the words of Romans 12:21..."Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good."
